![]() ![]() Scanning distally from GSV towards adductor canal The FA will be seen as the more superficial pulsatile structure with the FV just deep to the FA. From this point, the deep arteries and veins disappear from view, but the FA and FV can be imaged along the medial thigh until the adductor canal (AC), just proximal to the medial knee. The common femoral artery (CFA) splits at the same location (generally just proximal to the formation of the CFV) and forms the deep femoral artery and femoral artery (FA).(The femoral vein is occasionally referred to as the superficial femoral vein, but as this structure is actually considered part of the deep venous circulation, it will be referred to as the femoral vein for the rest of this discussion.) ![]()
